IRVINE, Calif. — The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team wrapped up the 2026 season this weekend with a three-game Big West series at UC Irvine, battling the Anteaters to close out the campaign. The Roadrunners earned a victory during the series and finished the weekend with a 1-2 record against one of the conference’s top programs.
CSUB totaled 17 hits and 14 runs across the three games while receiving strong contributions throughout the lineup and pitching staff.
Garrett Teunissen led the Roadrunners offensively, batting .429 with a home run, two RBIs, and a team-best .857 slugging percentage. Taison Miller provided a spark in limited opportunities, finishing 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored.
Dusty Vela crossed the plate three times during the weekend while playing error-free defense in the infield. Brendan Thompson and Evan Cloyd each recorded doubles and combined for three RBIs as the `Runners continued to battle offensively throughout the series.
On the mound, Ryan King delivered one of the strongest outings of the weekend, throwing seven shutout innings while allowing just five hits and striking out five. Jacob Gutierrez, CJ Brown, and Payton Pudenz each added scoreless appearances out of the bullpen.
Defensively, CSUB posted a .981 fielding percentage over the weekend with only two errors in 107 total chances. Cloyd helped anchor the defense with five double plays at first base, while Kanoa Morisaki handled duties behind the plate cleanly throughout the series.
