BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Following a strong 2026 campaign, five Cal State Bakersfield baseball student-athletes earned recognition from The Big West Conference for their performances throughout the season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Freshman designated hitter Devon Wilkes headlined the Roadrunners' award winners, earning Big West Freshman Field Player of the Year honors while also being named to the All-Big West Second Team. Senior first baseman Evan Cloyd and redshirt senior shortstop Elijah Pelayo also garnered All-Big West Second Team recognition, while redshirt sophomore pitcher Ryan King and senior reliever Jacob Gutierrez earned All-Big West Honorable Mention accolades.

Wilkes put together an impressive debut season in Blue and Gold, batting .289 with 58 hits, 17 doubles, five home runs, and 43 RBI across 53 games. The freshman from Oxnard, Calif. ranked among the team leaders in extra-base hits and RBI while providing steady defense with a .978 fielding percentage.

Cloyd anchored the Roadrunner lineup throughout the season, leading the team with a .322 batting average while adding seven home runs and 49 RBI. The Bakersfield native recorded 65 hits and posted a .986 fielding percentage at first base, helping stabilize the infield defensively.

Pelayo earned conference recognition after starting 54 games at shortstop for the `Runners. The Pico Rivera native hit .293 with 60 hits, 11 doubles, and 28 RBI while serving as one of the club's most reliable defensive players with 136 assists during the season.

On the mound, King was a key contributor in the Roadrunners' starting rotation. The right-hander made 12 starts and struck out 49 batters over 58.1 innings pitched during the 2026 campaign.

Gutierrez emerged as one of Bakersfield's top bullpen arms, posting four saves and 55 strikeouts in 60 innings of work. The senior appeared in 21 games and finished the year with a 5-3 record while providing valuable late-inning innings for the `Runners.

The conference honors cap off a season in which Bakersfield continued to show growth and competitiveness within The Big West under the Roadrunner coaching staff.
