IOWA CITY, Iowa-- Mitchell Huxhold (Sr., Escondido, Calif., San Pasqual HS) continued the 2015 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday morning. The Roadrunner senior failed to qualify for the finals of the 200 freestyle.
The Roadrunner representative finished the 200 free in a time of 1:37.76. Huxhold finished in 39th place. Chris Hansen, Bakersfield's Director of Swimming, expressed little worry about the result on Friday: “We are okay with the swim today.” Huxhold's time was just over two seconds off his season best in what is easily his weakest event of the three he is tackling this week.
Huxhold and his coaches are looking forward to the 1650 freestyle to close out the 2015 Championships on Saturday. “This is the fun event," said Hansen. "Having to miss three weeks in the beginning of the year for an injury and this being our third taper is affecting us a bit; however, our spirits are high and we are excited for tomorrow.”
