BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (1-0) continue their season-opening home stand Tuesday night hosting the Idaho Vandals (1-0) at the Icardo Center.
The 'Runners are coming off their first season-opening win since the 2005-2006 season after defeating San Diego Christian 93-69 on Saturday night. Damiyne Durham led the Roadrunners with 25 points while senior center Aly Ahmed scored 18 for the Roadrunners and senior forward Kevin Mays secured his first double-double of the season while scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Mays also set a new CSUB Division I record for field goal percentage in a game by going a perfect 8-for-8 from the field.
Idaho continues their season-opening road trip in California following a 74-54 season-opening win at San Jose State. The Vandals were led by Perrion Callandret's 18 points and six assists. They never trailed in the game and rattled off a 15-0 run in the first half to take control of the contest.
This is the first meeting between the 'Runners and Vandals since the 2013-14 season when they were both members of the Western Athletic Conference. CSUB is 1-3 all-time against Idaho having won the 2014 meeting in Bakersfield.
Idaho is coached by former CSUB assistant Don Verlin who was an assistant under Pat Douglas during CSUB's 1993 and 1994 NCAA Division II National Championship teams.
Tuesday's game will also feature a halftime presentation of WAC championship rings to the 2015 CSUB baseball team as well as being the first game of CSUB's toy drive. Fans bringing a new unwrapped toy receive a $3 discount off their ticket price.
