Huxhold Travels To Compete At U.S. Nationals

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-- Standout CSU Bakersfield swimmer Mitchell Huxhold (Sr., Escondido, Calif., San Pasqual HS) will travel to Irvine to represent the Roadrunners at the 2014 U.S. National Championships Aug. 6-10. Huxhold will compete in four events at the Championships: the 200, 400, 800, and 1650 freestyles.

"I am excited to see Mitchell step up and race the big boys after a successful NCAA's this year,” said Bakersfield's Director of Swimming and Diving, Chris Hansen. “The world's best are in Irvine and Mitchell deserves to be among them."

Huxhold will join elite swimmers at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Southern California with a chance to prove himself among the best. A strong performance at next week's Nationals could play a large part in the selection process for the 2014 and 2015 Pan Pacific Team as well as the 2015 World Championship and World University Games teams. The senior swimmer had an impressive 2013-14 season that culminated in a trip to the NCAA National Championships. After being honored as the Western Athletic Conference's Male Student-Athlete of the Year, Huxhold will try to make his mark on a wider audience in Irvine.
