BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Valley rivals CSU Bakersfield and Fresno State meet for the 21st time Wednesday night when the Roadrunners head to Fresno for a 6:35 start against the Bulldogs.

This will be the first of three consecutive weeks that Bakersfield and Fresno State are going to play a weekday game. Fresno travels to Bakersfield next Tuesday at 6 with CSUB returning to Fresno Apr. 30 at 6:35 p.m. The Roadrunners tied the all-time series at 10 when CSUB defeated the Bulldogs 5-3 Feb. 26 in Bakersfield.

Fresno State is 8-23 and 3-10 in the Mountain West Conference after losing three games at New Mexico over the weekend. Preseason All-American Aaron Judge leads the Bulldogs with a .347 batting average, five home runs, and 18 RBI's. Righthander William Munro (1-3, 5.57 ERA) will be pitted against Roadrunner starter, lefty Chuck Buchanan (R-Sr., Las Vegas, Nev., Allan Hancock College). Buchanan is coming off a start last Wednesday against Cal State Northridge in which he struck out a career high nine batters.

Roadrunner ace Jeff McKenzie (Sr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., San Joaquin Delta College) was selected to the inital watch list for the 2013 Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond Sports and presented during the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions Apr. 13. McKenzie, who is the lone WAC representative on the list which features 41 players from across the country. The award will be given on June 29.

College Sports Madness named Jordie Hein (SoMadness WAC Baseball Player of the Week Apr. 15. Hein hit. 500 with six runs scored during five games during the week. Hein posted six of his seven hits in 10 at-bats as CSUB swept UTSA Apr. 12-14. For the week, Hein posted a ,643 slugging and .632 on-base percentage. Both of those numbers went up against UTSA as Hein recorded a .700 slugging and .667 on-base percentage in the UTSA games. Hein did not record an error (12-1) in 13 chances in centerfield.
