BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Fernanda Gonçalves (Sr. Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Western Nebraska C.C.) recorded her team leading 12th double-double of the year Thursday night, but Loyola Marymount defeated Bakersfield 3-1 in the final home volleyball match of the season for the Roadrunners Thursday night.

With the match tied at 15 in the first set, the Lions went on a 10-1 run to end the frame and earn a 25-16 victory. LMU outhit the 'Runners .233-152 in the second set to earn a 25-18 victory. Bakersfield rallied from 15-10 down the in third set to take a 25-23 victory. Loyola Marymount connected on nine of its first 17 attacks in the fourth set on the way to hitting .483 for the game and earn a 25-13 set win and match victory.

Gonçalves, who also leads the Western Athletic Conference in double-doubles, had 35 assists and 11 digs. She also tied her career high with six kills and added three blocks. Debora Araujo (Sr. Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Western Nebraska C.C.) led the 'Runners with 17 kills. Kelsee Sawyer (So., Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS) and Molly O'Hagan (Jr. Tonganoxie, Kan., Tonganoxie HS) both had 10 kills for CSUB.

Kathleen Luft tallied a game high 18 kills to lead LMU. Setter Hannah Tedrow made 44 assists and had eight digs.

"LMU started off with good offensive pressure," said Bakersfield head coach Jolene Shepardson. "We responded with some great defense and ended up out digging them, but we couldn't generated enough points in the end. Tonight was an emotional night for our seniors, we are thankful to them for their tireless efforts to our program."

The Roadrunners conclude the 2013 regular season with a three-match roadtrip beginning Saturday night at second place Utah Valley. First serve is set for 7 p.m. (MST).
