LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The CSU Bakersfield volleyball team fell to Loyola Marymount 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-16) on Saturday.
The Roadrunners were led by junior outside hitter Debora Araujo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Western Nebraska C.C.), who recorded eight kills, five blocks (one solo, four assisted) and six digs. Sophomore middle hitter Molly O'Hagan (Tonganoxie, Kan., Tonganoxie HS) and freshman opposite hitter Kelsee Sawyer (Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS) both added six kills.
"I commend LMU today," said CSUB head coach Jolene Shepardson. "They were prepared for us and kept constant pressure on us. We could never get into a rhythm. This week is our opportunity to take what we have learned and put it into action against Boise State on Saturday."
CSUB went 1-2 on the week, defeating Cal Poly on Tuesday and falling to New Mexico on Wednesday before traveling to Los Angeles. The 'Runners are now 7-9 on the season. The Lions improved to 10-6 with the victory.
The Roadrunners will now return home to prepare for a two-match home stand next weekend where they will host Boise State on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. and Bucknell on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 5 p.m.
