CSUB Opens Four-Game Set With Cal Poly Friday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield (19-23) begins a four-game series with Cal Poly Friday in San Luis Obispo Friday night. The first three games will be play at Cal Poly (6 p.m.-Friday, 6 p.m.-Saturday, 1 p.m.-Sunday) with the final game coming Tuesday night in Bakersfield.

CSU Bakersfield and Cal Poly are meeting for the 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th times with the Mustangs leading the all-time series 6-4. CSUB swept Cal Poly last season in Bakersfield. The Mustangs are 27-19 overall, 10-8 in Big West play. Alex Michaels is the team leader in batting (.391). Mitch Haniger has hit 11 home runs and driven in 51 runs while hitting .343 this season.

CSU Bakersfield was swept by No. 17 North Carolina State last weekend in Raleigh. The Roadrunners held the lead in two of the three games before NC State rallied for the victories. Kyle Desimone (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) went 5-for-8 with three RBI's during the series.
