Volleyball Volunteers At Alzheimer's Association

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The CSU Bakersfield volleyball team volunteered its time and spent a day visiting people at the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County on April 19.

Several players as well as coaches Jolene Shepardson and Aaron Shepardson mingled with seniors in the program and participated in numerous activities from playing table tennis and human bowling. The Roadrunners also spent time talking and laughing with people at the clinic.

"It was such a rewarding experience," said CSUB setter Lisa Bartsch (Jr., Wuppertal, Germany, Augusta State).

The CSUB volleyball team, like all of the teams in CSUB's athletic program, is dedicated to establishing relationships with the Bakersfield community through volunteer outreach programs to live up to the Project 3,000 goal of donating 3,000 hours of community service back to the area.

"It was a great experience and we look forward to coming back again," Jolene Shepardson said.
