Aaron Shepardson is in his third season as Associate Head Coach at CSU Bakersfield. He also serves as the head sand volleyball coach at Bakersfield.
Shepardson helped make the Roadrunners the sixth most-improved team among all NCAA Division I volleyball teams in 2011. The ‘Runners improved in the win column by six more in 2012, going 14-17 in the final season as a Division I independent.
Shepardson came to CSUB from Virginia Tech where served as an assistant coach for the Hokies during the 2010 season. He previously coached at American University where he served as the primary on-court trainer from 2008-2009.
Shepardson was the head coach of the Front Range Volleyball Club – Mountain Division from 2006-2008, as well as in 2002 as an assistant coach for the 18-Open National Championship team. He was an assistant coach at Winthrop in 2005 and at the University of Denver in 2002, as well as a student assistant coach with Baylor University in 1996-1998.
A native of Littleton, Colo., Shepardson graduated from Baylor in 1998 with a degree in psychology. He played on Baylor’s men’s volleyball club as an outside hitter and setter from 1993-98 and was a member for the USA Men’s National Volleyball team in 2000-2001. In 2003, Shepardson played professionally in Indonesia and Belgium.
Aaron is married to CSUB head coach Jolene Shepardson. The couple had their first child, daughter Mirabelle, on Dec. 2, 2011.
