CSUB Travels To USC This Weekend For 3 Game Series

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield baseball team (7-6) travels to Los Angeles this weekend for a three game series at USC.  Friday's game begins at 6 p.m. Saturday's actions starts at 2 p.m. with Sunday's series finale getting underway at 1 p.m.

This will be the second, third, and fourth times that CSU Bakersfield and USC are playing in baseball. The Trojans defeated the Roadrunners 4-3 in Los Angeles Apr. 7, 2010 in the only previous game between the two schools.

The Trjoans improved to 9-3 Tuesday night with a 7-4 victory over No. 15 Cal State Fullerton. USC's leading hitter is Matt Foat who is batting at a .444 clip. Foat has posted one home run and seven RBI's in 12 starts this season. Andrew Triggs is 2-1 on the mound for the Trojans. Stephen Tarpley has struck out 24 batters in 15.2 innings of work this season.

CSU Bakersfield rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat UC Santa Barbara  7-6 Tuesday afternoon. Tied at 6 in the eighth inning, Jeremy Peterson threw a wild pitch which allowed Kyle Desimone (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) to score what proved to be the gamewinning run. Andrew Letourneau (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) went 2-for-4 with three RBI's to pace CSUB.
