CSUB?s Oscar Sanay Named To Collegiate Baseball?s Freshman All-American Team

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSUB second baseman Oscar Sanay (Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) was named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper June 8.

"All the hard work I did has paid off," Sanay said. "I never expected this, let alone starting every game. It feels pretty good especially after four of our players were drafted yesterday."

Sanay led the Roadrunners in hitting with a .355 average. Sanay, who started all 55 games during his rookie campaign, recorded at least one hit in 47 of those games. Sanay went 4-for-5 against Cal Poly May 28, marking the fourth time this season, Sanay posted four hits in a game. He had a total of 18 multiple-hit games including a 13-game hitting streak (which was snapped May 3 at Kansas State).

Sanay ended the season with 34 RBI's, the third most on the CSUB squad. He added 12 doubles and one triple.
