2013 (JUNIOR): Named first team All-Conference...was the only CSUB player named to the All-WAC Tournament Team...chosen Academic All-Conference...1-of-5 players to reset the school record for most appearances in a season with 59...1-of-2 players to start all 59 games, a new school record...led team in hitting for third consecutive season (.362)...also led team in slugging percentage (.487) and on-base percentage (.446)...hit first career home run at Fresno State (Apr. 23)...tied the school record with six triples...reset school record for most double plays turned in a season (39)...tied for school record in career sacrifice hits (19) with Kevin Younger...second on the squad in RBI’s (45), walks (25), and HBP (14)...enters season season as the school record holder for career hits (223) and double plays turned (98)...SUMMER LEAGUE: A second team All-Coastal League selection for the Asheboro (N.C.) Copperheads...second on the team in batting average (.327)...posted two home runs and 16 RBI’s.

2012 (SOPHOMORE): Started 52-of-55 appearances...led team in hitting (.312)...second on the team in runs scored (25), stolen bases (7-of-8), and assists (147)...was third on the team in RBI’s (25)...SUMMER LEAGUE: Played for the Peninsula Oilers in the Alaska Baseball League...hit .290 with one home run and five RBI’s.

2011 (FRESHMAN):  Named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper...led team in hittting (.355)...started all 55 games, recording at least one hit in 47 of those games...posted four hits in a game four times and had a total of 18 multiple-hit games including a 13-game hitting streak (which was snapped May 3 at Kansas State)...ended the season with 34 RBI’s, the third most on the CSUB squad...added 12 doubles and one triple...SUMMER LEAGUE: Hit. 230 with five RBI’s for the Sedina Bombers of the MINK League.

HIGH SCHOOL:  A 2010 graduate of Bonita Vista High School…coach was Vince Gervais…a 2009 and 2010 San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic selection…chosen first team All-Mesa League and second team All-County in 2009 as well as the 2009 coach’s award…selected first team All-Mesa League in 2008…hit .469 in 2008, .423 in 2009, and .400 in 2010…team won Mesa All-League title during senior season…played club ball for the San Diego Show and Bonita Legends.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 23, 1992...son of Tom Smith and Mary Smith…a business/criminal justice major…brother Yataro Sanya played baseball at Southwestern College from 2006-08 while step brother Troy Smith is playing baseball at Bellevue University.
