Lee Ties Two School Records As CSUB Sweeps UC Riverside

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSUB catcher Jazmine Lee (Fr., Garden Grove, Calif., Los Alamitos HS) tied two school records as the Roadrunners swept UC Riverside in a softball doubleheader Apr. 6 at the Roadrunner Softball Complex.

Lee tied the school marks for most home runs in a game and RBI's in a game as CSUB defeated the Highlanders 8-3 in the opener. Lee smacked two home runs and had six RBI's in the contest. Lee is now 1-of-7 'Runner players to hit two home runs in a game (most recently Bethany Snow vs. Bradley, Feb. 18, 2008). Lee is 1-of-3 CSUB players to have six RBI's in a game (most recently Lorraine Garcia vs. CSU Dominguez Hills, Apr. 15, 1994).

CSUB starting pitcher Sammy Rodriguez (Jr., Salinas, Calif., Salinas HS) smacked her first home run of the year to help her cause. Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with two RBI's as well as tossing a complete game. Rodriguez struck out six. Jamie Miller (Sr., Livermore, Calif., Ohlone College) and Karissa Veiga (Fr., Hemet, Calif., Hemet HS) each had two hits and each scored two runs.

The Roadrunners defeated UC Riverside 7-1 in the second game. CSUB scored all seven runs in the bottom of the third. The Roadrunner rally was highlighted by Tera Macias' (Jr., Los Baños, Calif., San Jose CC) grand slam home run. Veiga went 3-for-4 with a run scored while Lee was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

CSUB opens PCSC action this weekend with a pair of doubleheader against Santa Clara. First pitch is 12 p.m. on both days.
