BAKERSFIELD,
Calif.--UC Riverside (19-14)
scored seven runs in the top of the eighth to defeat CSUB (24-11) Saturday
afternoon at Hardt Field. With the victory, the Highlanders swept the three-game
series from the 'Runners.
The Roadrunners scored two runs in the first and led 3-1
heading into the eighth. The Highlanders sent a total of 13 batters to plate,
highlighted by a Trevor Hairgrove double which plated three runs. Hairgrove led
UC Riverside by going 3-for-5. Justin Shults was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run
scored.
Ryan McIntyre (Jr., Henderson,
Nev., Coronado HS) paced the
Roadrunners as he went 3-for 5 with a triple and two runs scored. DC Legg (Jr.,
Murietta, Calif.,
Cypress College) was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jeremy
Rodriguez (Jr., Thousand Oaks, Calif.,
Crespi HS) and Andrew Letourneau (Jr., Bakersfield,
Calif., Bakersfield College)
each drove in a run.
CSUB continues its homestand Monday night when the Roadrunners welcome Kansas State
to Bakersfield
for a two-game series. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
