BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Cal State Northridge (16-16) defeated CSUB (22-8) by a 2-1 score Apr. 10 at Hardt Field.

Ridge Carpenter hit the third pitch of the game over the right field wall to give Northridge the 1-0 lead in the top of the first.  Matthew Telesco led off the Northridge third with a single to centerfield.  Adam Berry came up two hitters later and singled to right field to plate Telesco for a 2-0 Northridge lead.

Oscar Sanay (Fr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) led off the CSUB seventh with a double just inside third base that rolled all the way to the wall.  DC Legg (Jr., Murrietta, Calif., Cypress College)  followed with a single up the middle to score Sanay and cut the Northridge lead in half.  Legg advanced to third on a wild pitch but was stranded there.

In the ninth, with one down, Legg singled to center which advanced Sanay to second.  After a pitching change, Kevin Younger (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) singled through the right side.  Legg advanced to third as Sanay was thrown out at the plate by Nate Ring who replaced Carpenter in rightfield.  Cael Brockmeyer (Fr., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) walked to load the bases.  Tyler Shryock (Fr., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) hit a high fly ball to centerfield that was caught to end the game.

Sanay and Legg led the attack for the Roadrunners with two hits each.  Seven of the nine starters got a hit in the game.  Spenser Messmore (Jr., Granada Hills, Calif., Alemany HS) went 7.1 innings in his first start of the season allowing two runs and six hits.  Messmore (2-1) also struck out six.

The Roadrunners will travel to UC Davis next weekend to face the Aggies in a three-game set next weekend, starting on Friday at 2:30 p.m
