BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—CSU Bakersfield won 14-of-16 men's swimming and diving events as the Roadrunners defeated UC Santa Cruz 191-98 in a dual Saturday afternoon at the Hillman Aquatics Complex.

“Today was a fun meet for us,” said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. “We swam some off events and got to swim some fun event as well. We got an opportunity to see some different ways to do some of our relays and events. So that was good.”

Garrett Hubbard (So., Granada Hills, Calif., Bishop Alemany) won the 100 backstroke (:55.46) and the 200 backstroke (1:57.80).

Troy Neklason (Fr., Seattle, Wash., Aviation HS) earned the titles in both the 1m (242.00) and 3m diving events (283.85).

Fran Cverle (So., Zagreb, Croatia, Limestone College) won the 50 freestyle (:21.72).

Peter Bardessono (Sr., Elverta, Calif., American River College) earned first place honors in the 100 freestyle (:47.80)

Chris Pipes (Sr., Fresno, Calif., Merced College) was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:43.69).

Alex Daneke (Jr., Lodi, Calif., Lodi HS) was first in the 500 freestyle (4:45.54).

Bobby Klagge (Sr., Granite Bay, Calif., Granite Bay HS) took home the top honors in the 1000 freestyle (9:56.85).

Jake Priest (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev., Palo Verde HS) earned the victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.00)

Dan Wickensheimer (Jr., Fort Wayne, Ind., Bakersfield Stockdale HS) won the 100 butterfly by swimming a time of :52.81.

Evan Vizcarrra (So., Penngrove, Calif., Petaluma HS) won the 200 butterfly (1:59.40).

In relay competition, the 200 freestyle team of Bardessono, Mitchell Wurm (Jr., Mesa, Ariz., Dobson HS), Pipes, and Mark Silvius (R-Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) won the race in a time of 1:26.10.  The 200 medley of Bardessono, Jason Corbett (Jr., Castro Valley, Calif., Ohlone College), and Cverle were the first place squad (1:35.34).
