Cooper Victorious Again at Mountain T?s Invite

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Senior Sheena Cooper won the 200 meter dash Saturday as the CSUB track and field teams competed in the Mountain T's Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona University at the J.L. Walkup Skydome. The Roadrunners improved upon 17 season–best marks Saturday in the second meet of the season.

Cooper ran a season–best 25.58 to win the 200 meter dash. Claiming a runner–up finish in the 3,000 meters was junior Casey Glassey, who crossed the line in 11:29.07. Sophomore Judith Mata was sixth (12:11.84) and junior Johanna Montes was seventh (12:47.01). Junior Arianna Celis took fifth in the mile invitational, running 5:42.99. In the 400 meter dash, junior Jenah Kincaid (1:01.38) placed eighth behind teammate Princess Watts (1:00.92). Freshman Klarissa Stoval was 10th in 1:02.41.

On the men's side, junior Michael Davis had a couple of season–best marks. Davis placed sixth in the 60 meter dash (6.84) and followed it up with a seventh place showing in the 200 meter dash invitational (22.36). Classmate Ryan Nichols also recorded a pair of season–best marks, finishing seventh in the 60m (6.89) and third in the 200m open (22.80). Senior Ryan Lucker ran a 4:35.33 mile to place sixth overall. He was followed by seniors Eddie Lee (4:41.32) in seventh and Jose Orozco (4:54.98) in ninth. Senior Derek Kasselstrand placed fourth in the weight throw (59–07.00) and freshman Collin Ellis was 13th in the shot put (44–07.50). Junior David Charleston placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 21–04.00.

Up next, CSUB will head to Fresno State on Friday, Feb. 5, to participate in the Run for the Dream.
