Arianna Celis emerged as one of the program’s top distance runners...ran the team’s third fastest 1,500 in 4:38.77 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. (4–16–10)...also won her section of the 800 in 2:15.78, the program’s all–time 10th fastest mark...ran the second–fastest 3,000 meter steeplechase in school history in a win at the Cal Poly Invitational (4–3–10)...won the 800 at the Fresno State Dual in 2:16.05 (5–1–10)...captured the 1,500 at the Tommie Lister Invitational at Cal State L.A. (4–24–10) in 4:41.05...won the mile (5:17.69) at the Lee Adams Open (2–20–10).
Riverside CC
Celis garnered California Community College Athletic Association All–American honors in 2009 after earning all–state honors as a freshman in 2008...voted team MVP in cross country and track as a freshman...earned the coach’s award for cross country as a senior...was a physical education student of distinction...maintained a 4.0 GPA.
Rancho Verde HS
Celis was twice named team MVP during her high school career...named All–Inland Valley League in cross country as a senior...earned the coach’s award as a junior...given the Superintendent’s Award, the Leadership Award and was on the President’s Honor Roll.
Personal
Celis is a biology major at CSUB...plans to attend medical school after graduation...parents are Josefina Luna and Felix Celis.
