LOS ANGELES - The CSUB women's soccer team fell to the LMU
Lions, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.
All three LMU strikes came in the first half and despite a strong second-half
showing, CSUB was unable to overcome the difference. CSUB is now 4-7-0, while the Lions improved to 7-3-1.
LMU scored goals in the first, 11th and 26th minutes to take
control of the game early. Jule Gallaudet found the back of the net first,
collecting a rebound off a Cori McGovern shot. Erin Rementer added the second
and Kelley Lawson headed in a cross from Gallaudet to make the score 3-0.
CSUB outshot the Lions, 4-1, in the second half and earned
three corner kicks to LMU's 1, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Sophomore Kym Gause finished the day with four saves. LMU
had a 11-6 shot advantage while CSUB finished with a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
"I was happy with our second half performance," Head Coach Nicole Van Dyke said. "We really needed a good start today against such a strong team, but we were unable to do that. The start of the game really hurt us today."
CSUB will head to Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, Oct. 1,
at 6 p.m. at Titan Stadium
