CSUB Drops Home Opener vs. Idaho State

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Cal State Bakersfield's women's soccer team came up short on Sunday during its home opener against Idaho State. The Roadrunners gave up a pair of goals due to defensive mishaps, falling by a score of 2-0 in an otherwise competitive match.

First Half 

Idaho State earned a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on a scramble in the box that fell straight to the feet of a Bengal. Bakersfield recovered well and finished the final 20 minutes of the first period going toe-to-toe with its visitors.

Second Half 

The `Runners continued to pressure Idaho State, earning a handful of quality chances on goal, but Bakersfield never found the equalizer. With about 15 minutes left on the clock, Idaho State capitalized on a CSUB turnover and found the back of the net for the second time of the match.

Coming on as a second-half substitute, Evens looked strong in goal for the `Runners. She earned 4 saves in her CSUB debut, giving Bakersfield the chance to hang around.
