STOCKTON, Calif. - Facing a team with NCAA Tournament
aspirations for the second consecutive day, the CSUB Volleyball team fell again
Friday, this time to West Coast Conference contender Loyola Marymount on day
two of the Stockton Hilton Invitational at the University of the Pacific.
LMU
(9-3 overall) improved to 2-0 in tournament play with the 25-22, 25-11, 26-24
victory. CSUB slipped back to .500 overall with a 7-7 record.
The
story of this match for CSUB came in the third set, where the Roadrunners ed by
as many as seven points at 18-11. After one LMU comeback, the Roadrunners were
on the verge of extending the match at 24-21 before the Lions scored the final
five points to end it.
Sophomores
Alysia Baker (Vista/Tri-City Christian HS) and Lindy DeGeare (Stockdale HS) led the Roadrunners with 10 kills apiece.
Senior libero Kayla Williamson (Stockdale HS) chipped in a match-high 20 digs.
CSUB
concludes play at the Stockton Hilton Invitational Saturday when it squares off
with Western Athletic Conference member Nevada. First serve is at 5 p.m.
