BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? Cal State Bakersfield basketball fans soon will be able to see their favorite team on television. More than just see the team, they'll actually be able to be their favorite Roadrunner player as the CSUB Athletics Department just signed its first video game license agreement with 2K Sports to be included in the upcoming release of College Hoops 2K8.
“The move to NCAA Division I is bringing a lot of exciting opportunities and experiences for our teams and our fans,” says CSUB Athletics Director of Sales and Marketing Karen Langston. “Our partnership with 2K Sports to be a part of the College Hoops 2K8 gives CSUB Athletics an opportunity to expand its brand and revenue streams while allowing our fans to experience Roadrunner NCAA Division I men's basketball in a unique way.”
For five consecutive years, the College Hoops 2K series has been the top?rated college basketball game on any console according to Andrew Blumberg of 2K Sports. This year's edition will be available on the Xbox 360? as well as the Sony PlayStation? 2 and 3 entertainment systems.
“College Hoops 2K8 looks to continue that legacy with advanced next generation visuals and hundreds of new animations,” says Blumberg. “The game will feature a wealth of innovative features as well as all 325 NCAA Division I teams ? including the CSUB Roadrunners.”
CSUB fans won't just get to see the 'Runners in College Hoops 2K8, they get to experience Roadrunner basketball from a first person perspective. They'll be able to take the floor at Rabobank Arena as their favorite Roadrunner player in real?life CSUB blue and gold against every other NCAA Division I team. If they lead the 'Runners to victory, the CSUB fight song will play.
College Hoops 2K8 will hit stores in November at a price of $59.99 for Xbox 360? and PlayStation 3?. The PlayStation 2? version will retail for $19.99
That release date should give 'Runner fans just enough time to whet their appetites for the real thing as the NCAA Division I era of CSUB men's basketball opens in Rabobank Arena on Nov. 17 against Fresno State.
