BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? Taking a brief break from collegiate action, CSUB's men's soccer team enjoyed a 4-1 win over its alumni team Saturday night at The Main Soccer Field.
The first 45-minute period featured a match-up between the current Roadrunner squad and members of the 1997 NCAA Division II national championship team.
All of the night's scoring was done in the first period as Robbie Gouk, Oscar Coppieters, Peter Carlson and Towa Manda each netted a goal. Gouk and Manda also each contributed an assist while Javier Barba and Joe Polifroni assisted the other two goals.
The alumni's lone goal of the game was on a penalty kick made good by Ross Miller, who played for the ?Runners from 1995-97.
The second period featured a variety of alumni from Head Coach Simon Tobin's first 20 years (1987-2006) against a second string of current players.
CSUB (3-8-4 overall) concludes its three-match homestand on Oct. 26, taking on Concordia-Irvine, the current No. 1 ranked NAIA team in the nation. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
