Bernauer Voted Big West All-Freshman Team

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Head Coaches of the Big West men's soccer teams have voted on the league's annual awards and Cal State Bakersfield's squad saw three men recognized among the honorees. CSUB's recognitions went to freshman Jacob Bernauer, junior Filip Arras, and senior Luka Geishauser.

In his first collegiate season, Bernauer was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team following a standout rookie campaign. The native of Fuellinsdorf, Switzerland tallied a pair of goals during Big West play, both of which helped CSUB earn draws against a pair of teams that wound up as Co-Champions of the league. Bernauer also played major minutes throughout the season, including play 80+ minutes in five of Bakersfield's ten matches.

Arras and Geishauser received enough nods from the conference's coaches to take home All-Big West Honorable Mention honors.

For the second-straight season, Arras led the `Runners in assists (4) and he tied for the team lead this year with six points. The junior from Melhus, Norway was one of the hardest working men on the team, playing in Bakersfield's left back position and transition from defender to offensive weapon and back all match long.

Geishauser closed out his collegiate career this past week, enduring an injury-hampered season that caused him to miss the season finale. Despite playing in just 10 of Bakersfield's 17 matches this season, Geishauser made his presence known in every cap. His defensive prowess strikes fear into opposing coaches, who recognized and honored the defender. Geishauser played all 90 minutes in six of his 10 matches this season and was a crucial part of Bakersfield's mid-season surge that saw the `Runners rise to the top of the league standings.
