BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? What began as a mild, evenly matched men's soccer game turned wild and card friendly near the end, but neither CSUB or Houston Baptist could break an early tie, resulting in a 1-1 double overtime draw Friday night at CSUB's Main Soccer Field.

The Huskies, now 7-2-1 overall, put the pressure on early, making the Roadrunners' defense look uncharacteristically scattered at times. At the 23:42 mark, HBU broke through to take a 1-0 lead.

A CSUB foul called at midfield was the starting point of the Huskies' attack as they immediately earned a corner kick off the free kick from the foul. Adi Mesic drove the corner kick to the front of the box where Jay Ambrosy used his head to flick the ball onto Brandon Acosta who redirected the ball into the net.

The Roadrunners wasted no time evening the score, netting the equalizer just three minutes later. A far-post shot by Joe Polifroni was redirected and dribbled across the goal line by Robbie Gouk, giving Gouk his second goal of the season.

Knotted at 1-1 at the break, the teams combined for just seven shots in the ensuing 65 minutes of play.

A pair of near fights late in the game resulted in the ejection of Houston Baptists' Santiago Molina and CSUB's Manny Guzman, as well as a handful of yellowcards.

Steve Trojanowski had another strong game in goal for CSUB, recording three saves, while Michael Bouchahine of Houston Baptist tallied five saves.

The ?Runners (3-8-4 overall) remain home for an Oct. 20 match against their alumni followed by an Oct. 26 match-up against Concordia-Irvine.
