IRVINE, Calif. - A pair of Roadrunners earned weekly honors from The Big West on Monday, being recognized as the top-performing women's volleyball players in the league. Suelen Lima earned Offensive Player of the Week honors while Leylah Duran was tabbed as Rookie of the Week.

This past week, Lima was the major offensive catalyst during Bakersfield's busy week, which featured four matches across five days. The outside hitter averaged 3.68 kills per set on a .255 hitting clip. Lima tallied 10+ kills in each match, including a career-high 28 kills in Friday's win at Eastern Washington.

Her 28 kills is the most in a match by any Big West student-athletes this season and ties for ninth-most in the entire country. Lima tallied double-doubles three times this week, adding 10+ digs to her offensive efforts in those three matches. For her efforts against Eastern Washington, the outside hitter was recognized by Avid as one of the Top 6 players in the country that night.

Duran averaged 1.50 kills and 0.62 blocks per set as Bakersfield battled to a 2-2 record in a busy week of action. The middle blocker was highly efficient on offense, posting a .318 hitting percentage. A true freshman, Duran was consistent across the week, tallying 6+ kills in all four matches. Her marquee game was Saturday's come-from-behind road win against Eastern Washington, in which she recorded a season-high with eight kills on .412 hitting to go with four blocks and three digs.

Cal State Bakersfield (5-7) kicks off Big West play on the road next week, challenging a pair of tough foes in Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara. The following week, the `Runners open up their Big West home slate against Cal State Fullerton (Oct. 3, Pink Shirt Giveaway) and Long Beach State (Oct. 4, Volleyball Golden Award Night).
