CSUB Powers to 17–4 Win Over Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. — Bakersfield turned in a dominant all-around performance Tuesday night, defeating Pacific 17–4 at Klein Family Field behind an explosive offensive showing and a steady effort on the mound.

The Roadrunners (20-25, 9-12 Big West) set the tone early, scoring four runs across the first two innings before pulling away with a four-run fifth and a five-run seventh inning to put the game out of reach.

CSUB’s lineup produced throughout the order, finishing with 12 hits while capitalizing on four Pacific errors. Redshirt junior Yahir Acevedo (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) led the charge with a home run and four RBIs, while redshirt senior Dusty Vela (Chico, Calif.) delivered a career night with three doubles and a team-high five RBIs.

Freshman Devon Wilkes (Oxnard, Calif.) added three hits—including three doubles—and drove in two runs, continuing a strong offensive stretch. Senior Evan Cloyd (Bakersfield, Calif.) chipped in with two hits and an RBI, and junior Kanoa Morisaki (Honolulu, Hawai‘i) contributed two RBIs, including a key sacrifice that helped spark an early scoring surge.

The Roadrunners also applied pressure on the basepaths, swiping multiple bases and forcing Pacific into defensive mistakes that extended innings and created scoring opportunities.

On the mound, CSUB pieced together a strong staff performance. Junior Brock Adamson (Ankeny, Iowa) earned the win in relief, while the bullpen combined to limit Pacific to four runs on eight hits and shut the door late.

With the victory, CSU Bakersfield continues conference play this weekend with momentum, backed by one of its most complete offensive efforts of the season.
