• The Cal State Bakersfield men’s basketball team (8-20, 2-14 BW) hits the final two weeks of Big West play, fighting to move up the Big West standings.  
• The Roadrunners are under new leadership as Acting Head Coach Mike Scott took over the helm five weeks before the start of the season. 
  • Scott is in his ninth season with the `Runners, previously serving as an Assistant Coach prior to being elevated to the program’s leader. 
• Guard Dailin Smith continues to be Bakersfield’s leading scorer and one of the most dangerous men in The Big West. 
  • Smith has three 30+-point games this season. 
• Defense continues to be a hallmark of the CSUB men’s basketball program as the `Runners rank 17th in the nation with 5.1 blocks per game this season. 
  • Power forward Ronald Jessamy leads the way with 48 blocks, which ranks him 43rd in the country.

• The Roadrunner women’s basketball team (7-19, 2-14 BW) are up against some competitive opponents this week. 
• Second-year Head Coach Ari Wideman is leading a reform in the Roadrunner program, aided by the help of a talented coaching staff. 
  • Wideman’s roster features a pair of veteran returners and a large group of returners who are all helping redefine the team. 
• CSUB’s top offensive weapon this season has been guard Chrishawn Coleman, who ranks fourth in the Big West this season with 16.9 points per game. 
• Center Tena Ikidi has been a problem on both ends all season, averaging 6.1 points and 8.3 rebounds a contest. 
• The `Runners are in the midst of their sixth season as members of The Big West, pushing for a return to the conference tournament in March after a two-year absence.

• The `Runners are taking a trip to Arizona for a 3-day tournament:

• CSUB will compete in five games over three days of action. 
• Bakersfield will face off against California Baptist twice, Wisconsin, and game hosts GCU and Arizona State.

• The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team will continue the 2026 season with a midweek clash before experiencing a bit of deja vu with a trip back to Texas. 
• Head Coach Jordon Banfield returns a core group of `Runners who excelled during the 2025 season and bolstered the roster with his first full year of recruiting. 
  • This year’s Roadrunner squad features 17 returners and 26 newcomers. 
• Banfield enjoys an uncommon circumstance in that he returns all three of his weekend starters from the 2025 season: Ryan King, Shane McAlinden, and Jacob Gutierrez. 
• The `Runners enjoyed a potent offense on Opening Weekend, averaging over eight runs per game against Southern Indiana.  
• Earning a 20% increase in wins from 2024 to 2025 despite the fact that Banfield had to throw a schedule and a team together at the last minute, so CSUB is optimistic about the 2026 season outlook.

• Led by third-year Head Coach Andy Fulenwider, the 2026 edition of the Roadrunners features 11 returners and 7 newcomers. 
• Vivi Kaelin, Ella Ensign, and Katey Milne bring the most experience back in the solid group of veteran `Runners. 
  • Among several other newcomers, Fulenwider welcomed to the squad Kendall Kaelin, a graduate transfer who is the older sister of Vivi Kaelin. The siblings are expected to pair together in the sane this season. 
• Cal State Bakersfield has set out on a new season with the ultimate goal of competing for a Big West Championship in sight.

• The `Runners will welcome a pair of regional opponents to their home courts:

• The `Runners are 4-0 all-time against Master’s, including a 4-1 victory in Bakersfield a year ago. 
• CSUB holds an 8-0 record all-time vs. Vanguard. The two teams last met in 2024 when the `Runners earned a 4-1 victory.

• The Roadrunner women’s golf team is full swing into the second half of the 2025-26 season with a trip up the Grapevine on tap. 
  • Third-year Head Coach Katy Barrett Baxter had a core group of `Runners that led the way to a historic Fall portion of the season, paced by a pair of seniors: Iris Han and Sarah Mutai. 
    • The duo is on track to wrap up their `Runner careers as the top two performers in program history. 
  • `Runner newcomers like freshman Fiona Clancy and Rena Kaneko made a huge impact in the first half of the season while sophomore was a steady fixture in the lineup 
• On the heels of a record-setting 2024-25 season, the Roadrunners rolled that momentum into a great 2025-26 season thus far.  

CSUB at Bruin Wave Invitational 

• The `Runners will return to action with a tournament hosted by Pepperdine and UCLA:

  • Valencia, Calif. / Valencia Country Club 
• The field is set to play three rounds over the two-day competition. 
• CSUB Head Coach Katy Barrett Baxter regularly sends a good mixture of youth and experience into battle with opposing teams. 
• The field features a total of 13 teams including Bakersfield. 
  • The tournament includes a great mix of teams, like hosts UCLA and Pepperdine, Big West members Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, and UC Irvine, as well as Fresno State, Yale, and Stanford, among others.
