Road Win Extends CSUB Record Unbeaten Streak to 5

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Winners of four of their last five matches and unbeaten in their last five-straight, the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners earned a 1-0 road win against UC San Diego Thursday night. CSUB's women's soccer team opened Big West play with three crucial points thanks to a goal from senior Cynthia Ramirez as well as the second-straight shutout from goalkeeper Kamy Anaya and the `Runner defense.

Ramirez's game-winning goal came in the 31st minute. Bakersfield went on to hold off the Tritons on their home field as Anaya came up clutch with nine saves on the match, a new career-high for the senior netminder. Also critical to the CSUB shutout was gritty play by the `Runner backline, including defenders Madison Cole and Mya Fortun, both of whom played all 90 minutes in Thursday night's road victory.

Bakersfield will enjoy a weekend off to recover and prepare for the team's Big West home opener vs. UC Irvine on Sunday, Sept. 28. Don't miss your chance to root for the red-hot `Runners at the Main Soccer Field. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the link below. Skip the line, buy online!
