Shutout Pushes CSUB Unbeaten Streak to Four Straight

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield women's soccer team earned its first shutout of the season in a 0-0 draw against the Idaho Vandals Sunday afternoon. After winning three-straight matches prior to Sunday's clash, the Roadrunners are now unbeaten in four-consecutive games as goalkeeper Kamy Anaya posted her first shutout of the season.

Anaya, who was the top goalkeeper in The Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll, tallied her first shutout of the season while guiding the `Runners backline to limit a dangerous Idaho squad. The anchor of the CSUB backline is senior defender Mya Fortun. Anaya and Fortun are the two lone `Runners to have played all 720 minutes across this season's eight matches. Midfielders Sara Ybarra and Miah Thomas also played all 90 minutes in Bakersfield's shutout.

The `Runners and Vandals went toe-to-toe, with both squads create a few quality chances, but neither side was able to break through. CSUB enjoyed a narrow edge, 11-9, in the shots department while the `Runner attackers forced Idaho's goalkeeper to make three saves. Anaya was relatively untested, tallying zero saves on the day, but the `Runner defense cleared a couple dangerous balls off the line for team saves.
