`Runners Hand Boise State First Loss in Road Rout

BOISE, Idaho – Closing out a two-victory week with a road upset against a previously-undefeated squad, the Cal State Bakersfield women's soccer team will return to Bakersfield with huge momentum rolling. Head Coach Whitney Pitalo's Roadrunners earned a 3-1 road victory Sunday afternoon against Boise State, a team that was 2-0-2 coming into the match. A year ago, the Broncos posted a 16-4-2 record and Bakersfield handed Boise State its first home loss since 2023.

The `Runners found the back of the net twice in the first half, establishing clear control over the Broncos. Boise State answered back with their lone goal of the match at 59:01, but CSUB needed just 18 seconds to respond, making the score 3-1.

CSUB goalkeeper Kamy Anaya made three saves as Bakersfield earned its second-straight win. Her defensive efforts were aided by the entire squad, but defenders Mya Clarke and Madison Cole played all 90 minutes on the backline in the victory.

The `Runners will head back out on the road for a weekend clash with Boise State on Sunday before coming home to host Fresno State on Sept. 4.
