Roadrunner Pitcher Jack Leary Heads to Pioneer League

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Cal State Bakersfield baseball standout Jack Leary has officially signed a professional contract with the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer League, marking the next chapter in the right-handed pitcher's baseball journey.

Leary, a redshirt senior from Spokane Valley, Washington, concluded his collegiate career in 2025 after transferring from Whitworth University and becoming a key contributor to the CSUB pitching staff. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 187 pounds, Leary showcased resilience, growth, and determination on the mound during his time with the Roadrunners.

In the 2025 season, Leary made 22 appearances including 8 starts, compiling a 2-4 record with 1 save. Over 72.2 innings pitched, he posted a 5.45 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP, striking out 47 batters. Opponents hit .279 against him during the year. His performance demonstrated his ability to contribute both in starting roles and out of the bullpen.

Leary's transition to the professional ranks comes as a testament to his work ethic and perseverance. The Boise Hawks, based in Boise, Idaho, compete in the independent Pioneer League, which serves as a developmental springboard for players seeking to advance within professional baseball.

Leary becomes the latest Roadrunner to pursue a professional baseball career, joining a growing list of CSUB alumni who have advanced to play at the next level. His signing underscores the program's commitment to developing talent that can compete beyond the college game.
