BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Cal State Bakersfield Head Women's Basketball Coach Ari Wideman has announced the hiring of Erika Warren as the program's new Assistant Coach. A former NCAA Division I student-athlete and a rising talent in collegiate coaching, Warren brings a strong foundation in player development, recruiting, and game strategy to the Roadrunners.
"We are excited to welcome our newest staff member," Wideman said. "Coach Warren brings great energy and a deep understanding of the game, having played at this level. She has a true passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Erika also brings a strong background in recruiting, with deep ties across the Midwest and South. We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the great work ahead."
Warren most recently served as an assistant coach at Emporia State University, where she was instrumental in recruiting top-tier talent and elevating player performance through specialized skill development and advanced game preparation. Her responsibilities included leading scouting efforts, designing individual workouts, and supporting athletes' mental wellness.
Before Emporia State, Warren spent two seasons at Clarendon College, where she played a pivotal role in increasing team wins through effective training programs and successful recruiting strategies. She also stepped into a leadership role in the head coach's absence, ensuring a high level of practice intensity and continuity in team development.
As a former standout student-athlete, Warren played guard for the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), helping lead the Miners to the NCAA Tournament. She also earned All-Region and All-Conference honors at Midland College, where she helped the Lady Chaps capture a Region Championship. In high school, Warren was a McDonald's All-American nominee.
Warren begins her new role immediately as the Roadrunners prepare for the upcoming 2025–26 season.
