• The Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team (5-21, 2-12 Big West) continues the 2025 season this week with its final two home matches of the year. 
• The new-look Roadrunners are building team chemistry from the ground up as the CSUB roster features only one returner who was on the squad last Fall. 
• The `Runners are led by co-interim Head Coaches, Felipe Nogueira and Cinthia Angus, both of whom have previous head coaching experience. 
• CSUB’s fresh-faced roster welcomes back one returner, Druegan Davis, as well as 14 newcomers. Highlights of a few first-time `Runners: 
  • Nicole Zake (So.): Transferred to CSUB in December from Virginia Tech 
  • Suelen Lima (So.): Spent freshman season at William Carey University, helping the Crusaders post a 29-11 record and reach the NAIA National Tournament 
  • Luiza Da Cruz (Jr.): Led Miami Dade College to NJCAA Runner-Up finishes in 2023 and 2024, falling to her now-teammate Nele Broszat’s team in the National Championship a year ago. 
• Bakersfield has been battling in its Big West matches, coming up short in a pair of hard-fought losses this past week. 

CSUB vs. Cal State Fullerton (8-18, 3-11 BW)

  • The Roadrunners hold a narrow, 7-6 advantage in the series. 
• A month ago in Fullerton, the Titans handed the `Runners a 3-0 sweep, but all three sets were closed battles (25-21, 25-22, 25-20). 
• Fullerton’s recent win snapped a four-game win streak for CSUB against the Titans, so the `Runners will be looking to start a new streak on their home court.

• Last month in Irvine, the `Runners traveled south and earned a 3-1 victory over UCI. 
  • Suelen Lima’s 20-kill evening was the catalyst for Bakersfield’s road win. 
• The two teams split their season series a year ago with both teams winning their road matches, so history could repeat itself for the second-straight year if UCI can earn another road win. 

• The Cal State Bakersfield men’s basketball team (1-1) will kick off a stretch that features three games contested over a seven-day span. 
• The Roadrunners are under new leadership as Acting Head Coach Mike Scott took over the helm five weeks before the start of the season. 
  • Scott is in his ninth season with the `Runners, previously serving as an Assistant Coach prior to being elevated to the program’s leader. 
• Cal State Bakersfield returns six men from last year’s squad while welcoming eight newcomers to the mix.

CSUB at Portland State (1-1)

• Monday’s clash will be the eighth in the all-time series, which CSUB narrowly leads 4-3.

• PSU’s last win snapped a three-game victory streak by Bakersfield, which the `Runners will be looking to restart.

CSUB vs. #26 Cal Poly 

• Bakersfield faces the Mustangs for its first Pac-12 dual this season: 
  • San Luis Obispo, Calif.

• One of the oldest rivalries in CSUB Athletics history, the CSUB-Cal Poly all-time series goes all the way back to the 1972-73 season. 
  • The Mustangs hold a 32-23-2 advantage on the `Runners all-time. 
• Bakersfield will be looking to snap a four-match skid against Cal Poly with CSUB’s last victory coming during the 2019-20 season. 
• A year ago in Bakersfield, the `Runners put up a great fight against the Mustang during CSUB’s annual Feud on the Field, but Cal Poly held on for a 23-20 victory.
