Bakersfield Silences the Tigers

STOCKTON, Calif. — The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners faced the Pacific Tigers for the fourth time this season and secured yet another win. The Bakersfield pitching staff was dominant, holding the Tigers scoreless and earning a shutout victory.

Lewis Barnum was a standout for the Roadrunners, hitting his first home run of the season—a three-run shot to left field—giving CSUB an early lead.

Bakersfield got on the board in the top of the second inning with Barnum’s homer, and although the bats were quiet for the next four innings, the 'Runners broke through with a four-run inning to extend their lead to 7-0.

On the mound, Jack Leary started the game strong, pitching four innings, allowing four hits, no runs, and striking out one. Dante Jackson came on in relief, also pitching four innings, striking out four, and earning the win. Alex Urias-Calvillo closed things out, sealing the shutout and the win for CSUB.
