• The Highlanders were picked to finish 9th in the Big West coaches’ poll, just one spot ahead of CSUB
  • They are coming off a big series win over the Gauchos, who were picked to finish third
  • In their two wins, they held Santa Barbara to just two runs, including a shutout
• Bakersfield’s bats have been sluggish, batting .209 as a team vs UC Davis
  • Munsey batted .667 with a home run and six RBI
• Bailee Bustos continues to be dominant, pitching two complete games versus Davis going 14.0 innings and holding the Aggies to three runs
• Head-to-head, CSUB has lost the last nine matchups with UCR
  • Last season, they were outscored 26-7
  • The `Runners are primed to close that gap as they are on the brink of surpassing last season’s run total (119) through 56 games, while this season they have scored 96 runs through 25 games

• Roadrunners take on the 5-seed UC Santa Barbara in the first round of the Big West Championships in Henderson, Nev.
• Bakersfield has not missed post-season play under Rod Barnes since the 2012-13 season
• Jemel Jones looks to extend his single-season scoring record, currently sitting at 610 points, and is on pace to break the CSUB D1 single-season scoring average record with 19.1 points per game currently

• The Roadrunners are 0-2 versus the Gauchos this season
  • CSUB is on an 11-game losing streak versus UCSB
  • The Roadrunners lost by an average of 9 points in the two matchups with UCSB this season
• Last meeting, CJ Hardy led the `Runners in scoring with 19 points, followed by Jemel Jones’s 16 points
• UC Santa Barbara is 3-2 in their last five, losing the last two to CSUN and UC Irvine
  • The Gauchos are a well-versed post-season program under Joe Pasternack, leading them to two NCAA Tournament appearances since 2020-21
• Rod Barnes has been to the NCAA Tournament four times with a 3-4 record in those four appearances
• The Roadrunners return to Henderson with experience. Tom Mark, Marvin McGhee III, Fidelis Okereke, Corey Stephenson, and Jaden Alexander all played in the BWC last season
  • McGhee III has the most experience in BWC, as this is his third appearance

• The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team is coming off its 2-1 series victory over UC San Diego to open up conference play. Conference action will be on pause this week, but CSUB will be busy all week long.  
• The Roadrunners are back in action at Hardt Field with two home games before heading out for a four-game series in Utah.

Pacific:

• Bakersfield faced off against Pacific earlier this season, securing a dominant 6-0 victory.
• The team held Pacific scoreless, with Jack Leary delivering an impressive 7.1 innings of shutout baseball on the mound.
• Bakersfield will play the Tigers four times this season, including two games this week.
• The first game begins today at 6:30 PM, followed by Education Day tomorrow at 11:00 AM.

Utah Tech:

• After the mid-week games, CSUB will travel for a four-game series against Utah Tech.
• The Roadrunners are set to play a total of six games this week.
• Utah Tech, which recently joined the WAC conference—formerly home to Bakersfield—will be facing off against the Roadrunners for the first time in history. 
• The Bisons currently hold a 7-11 record, most recently losing 3-1 to Big West opponent Riverside as well as UC Irvine for a single game. 

• After a successful weekend playing host for the Bakersfield Beach Bash, the `Runners will head to Long Beach for the Long Beach State Classic. 
• The `Runners have five returners and 14 newcomers.
• Head Coach Andy Fulenwider is in his second season and will lead the program to compete for a Big West title.
• After going 2-3 this past weekend, the Roadrunners look to bounce back as they head south for the Long Beach State Classic.
