Wideman Completes Coaching Staff

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A few weeks before the Fall semester kicks off, Cal State Bakersfield women's basketball Head Coach Ari Wideman has rounded out her coaching staff with the addition of Jason Hardy as an assistant coach.

"Jason was a no-brainer to hire," Wideman stated of her newest hire. "He is a grinder that will do any task for our program to be better. His passion for developing players on and off the court will be a great asset to us as well."

Hardy comes to Bakersfield with several years of experience as a coach, including serving as a graduate assistant under Wideman during her time at the University of Toledo. There he was able to lead player workouts, assist with scout reports, and create player development projects.

During his time with the Rockets, Hardy doubled down as a Player Development teacher, working hand in hand with CourtSessions Basketball. Since 2021, he had the opportunity to mentor players, teams and coaches using classroom and on-court lessons. For more than two years prior to that, Hardy was an Instructor for Point Guard College, guiding young athletes to become better players.

Hardy's studies as a master's degree candidate in Advanced Educational Psychology provides him with unique insight into the minds of the `Runner student-athletes.

"Jason is an effective teacher and energy giver that works to win each day," Wideman added. "We got better today!"
