CSUB Men's Soccer to Host Club America U-20

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – In what has turned into an annual Spring tradition, the Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer program is preparing to host a Mexican professional club for an international friendly. On Thursday, Mar. 21, at 7 p.m. (PT), the Roadrunners will welcome the Club América U-20 squad to the Main Soccer Field for an exhibition match presented by Sportsplex Bakersfield.

CSUB has often welcomed a professional side from our neighbors to the south for a friendly match. Last year, the `Runners went up against another Liga MX U-20 team in the Xolos, Bakersfield recently hosted Pachuca of the same league, and Spring of 2017 featured CSUB facing off against the Mexican National Team's U-17 squad.

Club América, a renowned Liga MX club with a rich history of producing world-class players, will cross the border in a couple weeks to bring top-level Mexican soccer to Kern County. The U-20 team feeds into the senior squad that has a proven to be Liga MX's most decorated club with 14 Apertura titles after winning it all in 2023.

"It's a fantastic game for our players and for our local community," said Adam Grant, Head Coach of the `Runners. "Club América is a top Liga MX team and to have a Spring game where we're playing a team of that caliber is really exciting. We're thankful for everybody who has helped put this event together and we know that local football fans are really going to enjoy this match."

CSUB has partnered with Sportsplex Bakersfield to present this year's friendly match. Don't miss this thrilling soccer spectacle as Cal State Bakersfield faces off against Club América U-20 in what promises to be a memorable international exhibition match.

A special $10 rate is available to current CSUB employees and students, maximum two at the discount.
