BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Cal State Bakersfield women's soccer player Karen Flores was selected to join the Ecuadorian Women's National Team for their upcoming international friendlies against Uruguay on Feb. 24 and 27, in Montevideo, Uruguay.
A native of Pichincha, Ecuador, Flores will join the team next week ahead of their competitions. The Ecuadorian Football Federation, the governing body of football in Ecuador, reached out for Flores' availability to compete for the team.
The junior has appeared in 41 matches for the Roadrunners and a total of 2844 minutes on the pitch. During the 2023 season, Flores had two goals and one assist for Bakersfield.
This month's international experience will not be her first as Flores trained and played a friendly against Cuba with the Ecuadorian women's national team in the summer of last year.
"Our coaching staff, support staff, and players are beyond excited about Karen's call-up to the full Ecuador national team for these two friendlies against Uruguay," said CSUB Head Coach Bernardo Silva. "Ever since reporting back for our off-season training in mid/late January, Karen has been outstanding with her performances and will surely go into this national team camp full of confidence and desire to continue to elevate the name of her country on the international stage. We can't wait to watch her excel!"
