Banfield Announces 2025 Baseball Schedule

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Head Coach Jordon Banfield revealed the 2025 Cal State Bakersfield baseball schedule this week, with the Roadrunners set to open their season at home on February 14 against Lamar University. Heading into his first season at the helm, Banfield has CSUB slated for 56 games, including 24 contests at Hard Field.

"I'm excited to share our spring schedule for my first season as a Roadrunner," Banfield said. "Putting this together was a challenge, as these schedules are typically planned years in advance. We were starting from scratch in July, so there are more road games than fans might expect in the future. But coming from the Midwest, I'm used to that kind of travel."

Non-Conference Highlights

CSUB will kick off its season at home against Lamar University, which finished the previous season with an impressive 44-15 record.

"Opening at home against a team like Lamar certainly won't allow us to ease into the season," Banfield explained. "Lamar had the second-most regular-season wins in the country last year and certainly should have been in the NCAA Tournament."

After the opener, the Roadrunners will embark on a three-week road trip. The team will first head to USC, followed by a four-game series at Nevada. Bakersfield will then return to the Golden State for a single game against California, followed by a three-game set against the University of San Diego. On March 4, they will meet Pacific for the first of four matchups scattered throughout the season. Later in the year, from March 13-16, the Roadrunners will travel to Utah for another four-game series against Utah Tech.

Non-Conference Midweek Games

Bakersfield is scheduled for 10 non-conference midweek games this season, with six on the road and four at home. These include a pair of games against valley rival Fresno State and four against Pacific.

"Our goal is to play as close to the full 56 games as possible and prepare our players for Big West competition," Banfield said. "That will always be the priority when assembling our schedule."

Big West Conference Play

The `Runners will begin Big West play on the road, opening conference action with a three-game series at UC San Diego from March 7-9. After the team's "bye week", which will feature six non-conference games, CSUB will get back to league play March 21-23, when they host CSUN. Bakersfield will finish the regular season with two tough series against UC Irvine (May 15-17) and UC Santa Barbara (May 21-25) with the goal of earning a spot in the Big West Championship. The league's first-ever conference tournament for baseball will be hosted by Cal State Fullerton, May 21-25.
