2024 Bakersfield Pin Hitters

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - As the Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team embarks on an exciting 2024 season, fans are witnessing a talented group of pin hitters already making their presence felt on the court. With a blend of skill, experience, and determination, these athletes are poised to lead the Roadrunners in their quest for success.

Paige Dugan, a key returning player, showcased her talent last season by participating in 25 matches and starting in 16 of them. Dugan ranked third on the team with an average of 2.11 kills per set. Her standout performance came against Southern Utah, where she recorded a season-high 17 kills, along with nine digs and three blocks. Throughout the season, she consistently delivered, notching double-digit kills in seven matches and maintaining her position as a crucial offensive player for the Roadrunners.

Transitioning to the team this year is Druegan Davis, who comes from Fresno City College, where she excelled from 2022 to 2023. Davis was recognized for her skills with First Team All-League honors and was named conference MVP twice. Her leadership and experience will be invaluable as she joins the Roadrunners, bringing a winning mentality after leading her team to consecutive conference championships.

Paola Caten excelled as a key player, recording 183 kills and a .218 hitting percentage. Averaging 2.03 kills per set, she also contributed 48 blocks and 74 digs, with standout performances including 17 kills against Norfolk State. Another exciting addition is Valentina Sarti Cipriani, who played for the College of Southern Idaho during the 2022-2023 season. In her freshman year, Sarti Cipriani made the all-conference team, proving her ability to perform at a high level. She recorded significant stats, including a season-high of 16 kills and 10 digs in a match against Odessa, demonstrating her capability to contribute to both offense and defense.

Sydney Dunning returns to the squad after playing in 24 matches last season, starting in 13. She averaged 2.02 kills per set, ranking fifth on the team. Dunning's versatility shone through as she achieved a season-high of 13 kills against Cal State Fullerton and recorded 16 digs against Utah Tech. Her consistency and ability to rise to the occasion make her a reliable asset for the Roadrunners.
