`Runners Move into 1st Place with 2-1 Victory Over CSUN

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer team moved into a three-way tie for first place in the Big West standings thanks to a 2-1 victory against CSUN on Saturday night. The Roadrunners used a 2-0 halftime lead and four big saves from goalkeeper Zenden Hart to hold off the Matadors for Bakersfield's fifth-straight match without a loss.

Bilal Mihoubi and Connor Mautino netted a pair of goals for the `Runners in the opening half. Mautino's goal was his eighth of the season, which is tied for the fourth-most goals in a single season in CSUB's Division I history.

While the Matadors answered back with their lone goal in the 60th minute, Bakersfield's stout defense and four big saves from Hart helped the `Runners solidify the victory. CSUB is now tied with #23 UC Santa Barbara as well as Cal Poly atop the Big West table with eight points apiece.

The `Runners will hit the road next Wednesday, Oct. 16, to take on UC Irvine before coming home to host UC San Diego on Saturday, Oct. 19. Tickets for CSUB home matches are available at the gate or ahead of time at GoRunners.com/Tickets.
