Get to Know CSUB Men's Soccer: Forwards

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Less than 48 hours remain until the official kick off of the Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer team and today we are wrapping up our deep dive into Interim Head Coach Adam Grant's 2023 squad.

Before the season officially starts on Aug. 24, we want to introduce fans to the team, providing more insight into the person behind the name, number, and uniform. Closing out our position-by-position breakdown of the `Runner men's soccer team, meet Bakersfield's forwards.

Notable

Grant on the `Runner forwards: "Bilal and Connor, who joined us in the Spring, were big threats. We now feel like we have great depth, adding more firepower, pace, and athleticism with the players we brought in. Rashaad has great pace and is good with the ball. Francesco is athletic and strong and can create. Shia can play in the midfield but he's also a great attacker."

#7 Bilal Mihoubi (Returner)
- 5-foot-11, junior
- From Montreal, Quebec, Canada, went to High Mowing School
- Last season, started all 17 games
- Ranked second on the team in minutes (1,428) and second in shots taken (19)
- A marketing major
#9 Francesco Aiello (Newcomer)
- 6-foot-1, freshman
- Native of Orlando, Fla., went to Lake Brantley High School
- Earned Rookie of the Year honors
- Plans to major in business
#11 Rashaad Ogun (Newcomer)
- 5-foot-9, junior
- From London, England, went to Barking Abbey School Sixth Form
- Transferred to CSUB from Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo.
- Earned First Team All-Conference honors in 2022
- Led Vikings to Regional and Conference Championships in 2021 and 2022
- A kinesiology major
#12 Connor Mautino (Newcomer)
- 5-foot-10, junior
- From Lake Forest, Calif., went to Santa Margarita Catholic High School
- Transferred to CSUB from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio
- Led Storm to NCAA Division II Final Four in 2022
- Scored 17 goals last season, earning All-Region honors
- A finance major
#24 Shia Clayton (Returner, splits time as a midfielder)
- 5-foot-8, redshirt freshman
- From Bakersfield, Calif., went to Foothill High School
- A three-time First Team All-Area honoree
- Led the Trojans to back-to-back Valley Championships
- Last season, sat out as a redshirt
- Plans to major in business administration
