Meet CSUB Women's Soccer: Goalkeepers

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – With the 2023 regular season about to get underway for the Cal State Bakersfield Women's Soccer team, new head coach Bernardo Silva looks forward to hitting the ground running in pursuit of the program's first Big West title.

After going 1-1 in the pre-season, including a 3-1 dominant performance against Master's University before giving Saint Mary's a run for its money, the Roadrunners open up their season in familiar territory for coach Silva. With an away day at Sacramento State on Thursday, Aug. 17, Bernardo Silva will be coaching against his former team and looking to get one over on the Hornets. On Sunday, `Runner fans will be getting Rowdy for the Valley as CSUB hosts cross-valley rivals Fresno State for the first home game.

As the beginning of the season rolls on, we want to introduce fans to the team, providing more insight into the person behind the name, number, and uniform. First up in our position-by-position breakdown of the `Runner women's soccer team, meet Bakersfield's goalkeepers.

Notable
  • "We have a strong goalkeeper group led by Hollee Hercik who has been instrumental in the team's success," Silva said, outlining the core of the group. He continued by discussing the delicate nature of balance in the team with, "It is always important to have a goalkeeping union that has the right balance of competing on a daily basis but also staying supportive on game day when the staff makes the decision on who is starting. I believe we have that perfect balance."
