Six Wins, Four Top-20 Marks for the `Runners

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield track and field teams picked up six wins on Saturday, Apr. 8, along with four CSUB top 20 all-time marks at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The Roadrunners wins came from Julia Stein, Kynnedi McCall, Thomas Richardson, Miranda Miller, Jessi Solis, and Matthew Garrett.
 
Top `Runner Performers
  •  Julia Stein was the first Roadrunner of the day to earn a first-place finish. Stein finished the women's 100-meter hurdles in 14.65. She continues to show success in the hurdles.
  • In the men's 1,500-meters, Jacob Yagers lowered his personal best and all-time placement in the record books. With a time of 3:55.37, Yagers is now ranked as the #9 performer in program history.
  • On the women's side, Helena Valentic ran the 1,500-meters in a PB time of 4:45.85. The time is good for #10 in CSUB history.
  • Nerissa Thompson recorded a personal record in both the 100-meters and 200-meters.
  • Kynnedi McCall rewrote the record books for the women's 400-meters. McCall's first place finish of 54.71 is now the #2 all-time mark in program history.
  • In her first attempt in the 800-meters, Riley Slayton became #13 all-time with her 2:16.10 finish.
  • Miranda Miller continues to dominate in the women's pole vault. Miller is now six for six on the season, with her first-place mark of 13'01.50".
  • Thomas Richardson and Matthew Garrett lead the men's throws to another successful meet. Richardson (186'04") and Garrett (181'09") went 1-2 in the hammer throw. Teammates Javier Toro and Axel Salazar were closely behind in 4th and 5th. Garett placed first in the shot put with a throw of 55'06.75", while Richardson and Toro finished near with their 3rd and 4th place finishes.
  • The women's hammer throwers placed big today. Leading the charge was Jessi Solis with her first-place mark of 153'09". Madison King finished in second with her throw of 152'05". Kayla Prince and Yarabi Campos went 5th and 7th.
