Early Start To The Game Wasn’t Enough to Knock off Big West Top Seed

Box Score FULLERTON – The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team got off to a great start in their first game against Fullerton. Scoring six runs off ten hits, the `Runners had a strong performance to compete well, but it wasn't enough to upset the Big West top seed.

We had our chances to take tonight's game. We were able to string a few runs together early but we didn't back it up on the mound in the middle Innings.
Our guys took quality at bat most of the night and hit a lot of balls hard. Fullerton was able to make pitches and played exceptional defense that changed the game.
We played with them every pitch and had a chance to win it all the way up until the last out. Proud of our effort, look forward to competing tomorrow night.

CSUB 6, Fullerton 8

CSUB grabbed an early lead, in the second inning the `Runners scored three runs off of two hits.
Cody Hendricks led the team having a single RBI to start off, followed by Stancato stealing home with the final run was off of a single to left field by Riley Kasper.
Fullerton answered right back, in the forth inning they score three runs on top of a run they had earned earlier during the bottom of the second.
The `Runners took the lead right back during the top of the fifth, scoring two runs off of three hits making the score 5 – 0. Konnor Palmeria had two RBI to help the `Runners out scoring Jacob Ruley and AJ Miller.
Fullerton made a move for the lead in the bottom of the fifth, with the `Runners fighting hard to stay in the game, it was not match for the three more runs that Fullerton scored.
Bakersfield fights for a comeback in the top of the ninth, scoring another run off a single to right field by James Bell.
