CSUB Swimmers Ready for National Invitationals

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The last team meet of the season has arrived for Cal State Bakersfield's swimming and diving squads as a core group of the Roadrunners are headed to the National Invitational Championships, Mar. 9-11. CSUB has qualified more `Runners than ever for one of the nation's top collegiate meets.

  • "The NIC has become one of the fastest meets of the season. The NCAA sanctioning this as a legit postseason meet a couple of years ago, with invites, has made this meet an honor to be invited to."
  • "The men finished just out the Top 10, finishing 12th last year behind powerhouse schools like Ohio State, Indiana, and Tennessee as well as MPSF rival UC San Diego. There were over 50 DI one men's teams at the meet in 2022. Our goal is to break into the Top 10. I think with this group of men that goal can be accomplished."
  • "The women were just out of the Top 25 last year, finishing 26th, the highest since we started making the meet. This is the biggest group of women to be invited, not to mention the most talented."
