Saglam Breaks into CSUB Top 5 on Day at NICs

ELKHART, Ind. – Day 2 of the National Invitational Championships saw the CSU Bakersfield swimming teams continue proving themselves among the best in the country on Friday. The Roadrunner women enjoyed multiple finals placers while Bakersfield's men continued posting fast times and maintained a Top 12 team standing.

Women's Top Performers

Mikayla Popham got the `Runner women on the board Friday night with a B-finals swim in the 200 freestyle, posting a 1:49.20 best time of the day.
Chelaine Van der Westhuizen earned a spot in the B-finals for the second-straight night, this time in the 100 breaststroke. She touched the wall with a 1:02.45 in the morning prelims.

Men's Top Performers

The `Runner men rank 12th of 41 teams after two days of competition.
The men's 800 free relay of Vili Sivec, Adrian Paseta, Jacob Folsom, and Arthur Schneider posted a seventh-place finish with a time of 6:23.53.
Yigit Saglam made the B-finals of the 100 fly, where he dropped big time down to a 47.55, which ranks third all-time in CSUB history.
Sivec showed out with another A-finals performance in the 100 butterfly, placing ninth at 47.61 seconds in the finals.
Arthur Schneider also earned a spot in the 200 free B-finals after going 1:38.19 in the morning prelims.
